1 cup sugar
1 cup vinegar
1 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
pepper to taste
3 Tbsp cornstarch
3 Tbsp ketchup
1 tsp minced garlic

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium saucepan, saute garlic in a small amount of olive oil until golden brown. Add remaining ingredients and combine well, bringing to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until it is thickened and all lumps are dissolved.

If the sauce is too sour, simply add a bit more sugar. This makes about 2 1/2 cups. We typically use part and freeze the remainder for a later date.
