1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
3 eggs, separated
2 cups milk
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
dash salt
Caramelize: 3/4 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar and flour. Add egg yolks and milk. Stir and warm on very low temperature, while you caramelize 3/4 cup sugar in a small skillet on very low heat, let it melt and then bring to a boil. (turns brown) Stirring until dissolved. Pour into other mixture, stir until thickened. If too thick add milk to get the right consistency. Stir in vanilla and butter. Pour into baked pie shell. Meringue Topping: Beat 3 egg whites until stiffened, add 1/4 cups sugar and 1/4 tsp cream of tartar. beat until stiff. Spread on pie. bake at 375º unltil lightly browned. Cool.
