1. 1/2 cup shortening, 1 cup sugar, 2 beaten eggs.

Mix: 2 c. flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. baking soda, 2 tsp. nutmeg, 1 c. sour milk, 1 tsp. vanilla.

2. Frosting: 6 T. melted butter, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/4 c. cream or milk, 1 c. coconut, vanilla.

1.Cream shortening and add 2 beaten eggs. Add dry mixture and bake at 350º until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

2. After cake is done, add frosting ingredients and place cake in oven to brown the topping.
