3 c. flour
1 tsp salt
1 c. shortening
1/3 c. cold water
8 medium tart apples peeled and cored
8 tsp butter
9 tsp cinnamon and sugar - divided

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine flour and salt in large bowl, cut in shortening until crumbly. Gradually add water, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball.
Divide into eight portions. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
2. Roll each portion of dough between two lightly floured sheets of waxed paper into a 7in. square. Place 1 tsp of butter an 1 tsp cinnamon-sugar into the center of each square.
3. In large saucepan, combine sauce ingredients. Bring just to a boil, stirring until blended.
4. Bake at 350º or until pastry is golden brown, basting occasionally with sauce
