"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Substitution Vanilla instant pudding mix can be used instead of the white chocolate pudding mix.

Success Hint To keep candies from sticking together, sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar over the cutting board. As you cut the candies, toss them with the sugar.

How-To To easily cut the cake, use a serrated knife and dip it in hot water before cutting each piece to keep the frosting from sticking.

Variation Use any Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix and follow directions on the back of the box for the right amounts of water, oil and eggs.

Special Touch Instead of chopping the peppermint patties, cut them into fourths. Press a wedge of candy, point side up, into the frosting on each serving of cake.
