Ingredients:  
Add 1 cup water to 2 cups raisins.
Boil 5 min.Let cool.
Cream together:
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar. Add 3 eggs & Beat well. Add 1 tsp. vanilla.
Then add Raisin mixture.

Sift together:
4 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice
1 cup chopped nuts if desired
Add Raisin mixture & blend.

Drop on greased cookie sheet & bake at 400º For 12- 15 min.
