1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup oil
4 egg whites
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla extract
24 fortunes wrote on 1/2 inch x 3 inch paper

Heat oven to 300º. In a bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Add next 4 and beat one minute. Spread 1 tbsp. batter into a 4 inch circle on greased cookie sheet. Repeat to make 4 disks. Bake 12 mins. Set disk on potholder. Place 1 paper fortune in center of cookie and fold. To fold, bring up sides like a taco, pinch center together. Then work your way out to pinch all seams. Then drape over a coffee cup or rim of a bowl to form a crescent shape. Next, set in a muffin pan to cool completely and crisp up. Repeat with remaining batter. Working in batches of 4 cookies at a time. Cookies will store in air tight container for 2 weeks.

This is a lengthy process, but the outcome is so worth it! Prepare a dinner and put a surprise note inside like "We're engaged" or "We're having a baby!" Be creative!!
