2 cups brown sugar
2/3 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp sweet cream
1 tsp soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
3.5 cups flour
Filling:
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine brown sugar and shortening. Add eggs and cream. Sift dry ingredients together. Stir in with other ingredients. Roll out on large sheet. Make filling by combining dates, nuts, sugar and water. Cook until thick. Cool before spreading on dough. Roll up dough like jelly roll and chill overnight. Slice. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes or until firm and set.
* Can make several small rolls.
