• 2/3 C dried apricots
• ½ C butter
• ¼ C sugar
• 1 C flour
• ½ tsp baking powder
• ¼ tsp salt
• ½ C whole bran cereal
• 1 C brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• ½ tsp vanilla
• ½ C chopped walnuts
• ¼ C sifted confectioners sugar

Rinse apricots. Cover with water and boil 10 mins. Drain, cool and chop. Measure butter, granulated sugar, and ½ C of flour into mixing bowl and beat until smooth. Stir in whole bran cereal. Spread mixture into ungreased 8 inch square pan. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes until lightly browned. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Place brown sugar and eggs in mixing bowl and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients, vanilla, walnuts and apricots and stir. Spread over baked layer. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool, cut into bars, and roll in confectioners sugar. If bars are stored, re-coat with sugar before serving. Makes 32 bars.
