2 gallons cucumbers, peeled, sliced, seeded
2 C dehydrated lime
8 1/2 C water

1 C vinegar
1 T. alum
1- 1 oz bottle of red food coloring
2 C water
2 C vinegar

10 C sugar
8 cinnamon sticks
1-9 oz package red-hot cinnamon candies

Combine cucumbers, lime and the 8 1/2 quarts water in large crock. Let stand for 24 hours. Drain and rinse until water is clear. Add fresh water to cover. Let stand for 3 hours; drain. Combine with 1 cup vinegar, alum, food coloring and water to cover in sauce pan. Simmer for 10 minutes; drain and place cucumbers in large crock. Combine 2 C water, 2 C vinegar, sugar, cinnamon sticks and candies in saucepan. Bring to a boil, pour over the cucumbers in crock. Let stand for 3 days;d rain, reheat and pour liquid over cucumbers each day. Spoon into hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/2" headspace; seal . Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
