Cake:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 stick butter
1/2 cup shortening
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 cup water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla

Icing:
1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cake: Sift flour, sugar, and soda together. In saucepan combine and bring to a boil, butter, shortening, cocoa, and water. Pour over sifted dry ingredients. Beat. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Beat well and pour into a greased 9 x 12 pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

Icing: Melt butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and pecans; beat well while still on the stove. Remove from heat. Beat a little more and spread on cake while still hot.

Molly Kate, this is the cake that you once loved. However, after a couple of occasions when I didn't follow my recipe correctly, you began calling it "inconsistent" and preferred Cheesa's box cake! Be sure to try it!
