2 cups milk ( heat to scalding)
4 cups bread crumbs.
1/4 cup butter melted
1/2 cup sugar
2 slightly beaten eggs
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup raisins
1 tsp nutmeg or cinnamon

Directions:

Pour into buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole. Set in pan of 1" water. Bake at 350º for 1 hour or until firm.

Vanilla, lemon or Nutmeg Sauce - Mix together in saucepan - 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Stir in gradually 2 cups of boiling water. Boil one minute stirring constantly. Stir in 4 tablespoons of butter, add 2 tsp vanilla, lemon, or 2 tsp nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon lemon rind. Keep hot until served.
