1/3 c shortening
1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c molasses
2 c pastry flour
3 t baking powder
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
1/4 t cloves
1/8 t baking soda
1 c apple sauce
1/2 c raisins
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening; add sugar slowly, beating in well. Add well beaten egg and beat until well blended, add molasses. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with apple sauce. Add raisins. Bake in greased square baking pan in moderate oven at 350º about 1 hour. Makes 1 nine inch cake.
