1 c. butter or shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 c. buttermilk or skim milk
2 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
˝ tsp. cloves
˝ tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. soda
3+ c. flour (add 2 cups or so until it “feels” right)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ingredients, adding enough flour so dough is not sticky, yet not dry or tough. Roll dough on floured surface and cut with cutters. Spring each with sugar and push raisin into center, or frost with confectioners sugar and milk mixture and push raisin into center after baking. Bake 8 min at 350°.
