1 c. chopped raisins or dates
½ c. sugar
2 TB flour
1 c. water
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 ½ tsp. soda
½ c. warm water
4 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 1st 5 ingredients and cook on medium heat until thick. Cool. In large bowl, blend shortening, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Put soda in warm water and put flour and salt together. Add to mixture and blend to cookie dough. For each cookie, put 1 TB of dough on cookie sheet. Punch hole in dough and add ½ tsp. filling in hole. Put drop of dough on top of filling. Bake 10 minutes at 400°.
