2 c. sugar

Boil water and sugar for 10 minutes. Let cool slightly and then dip crocheted item in solution and thoroughly saturate. Squeeze out excess. Lay flat and shape periodically, or place on a form of choice to shape and dry. It may take 2-3 days to dry completely, and will stiffen as it dries.

This is the sugar starch recipe from long ago that our Mother used to put a nice, crisp finishing touch on crocheted items such as ornaments, angels and doilies.
