2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
butter
1 quart strawberries
1/4 cup sugar
whipped cream
confectioners sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Mix in shortening. Add beaten egg to milk and add to dry ingredients to make a soft dough. Smooth 1/2 dough out lightly on a floured surface. Put into a deep greased layer tin. Spread the top with butter and cover with the second half of the dough. Bake in hot oven at 425º for 20-25 minutes.

Split while hot and spread with crushed sweetened strawberries and whipped cream between the layers. Cover top layer with whipped cream and whole berries. Dust with confectioners sugar and serve.
