Cranberry Rose Scones Recipe

Mix:
5 c. flour
3 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 pinch cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar
Cut in 1/2 lb. Crisco
Mix with hands until coarse

Add:
3/4 c. dried cranberries & 3/4 c. raisin OR 1 c. chopped pecans
2 eggs beaten
2 c. buttermilk
Mix well & knead 20 times on floured surface.
Cut & bake @ 425* for 12 - 14 minutes.

Serve warm with Devonshire Cream or Lemon or Strawberry Butter.

Devonshire Cream
1 tsp. gelatin
1/2 c. cold water
1 c. whipping cream
4 tbsp. white sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour cream

Dissolve gelatin in cold water. Let stand for 10 minutes. Whip whipping cream until very stiff. Add sugar & vanilla. Place gelatin mixture in microwave for 30 seconds on high. Whisk sour cream into gelatin mixture. Fold whipped cream mixture into sour cream/gelatin mixture one half at a time. Chill to set.
Lemon Butter
6 eggs
2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. lemon juice
1/4 cup melted butter
Mix all ingredients well & microwave for 6 minutes, stirring after 3 minutes.
Strawberry Butter
2 c. strawberry jam
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. melted butter
Mix well with electric mixer.
