1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. soft shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. quick oatmeal
1/2 c. pecans (optional, but good)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Add sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth, about 2 min. Stir in oatmeal and pecans. Shape dough into 2 one-inch rolls. Wrap.
Chill thoroughly. Slice; place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350º for 10-12 min.
Remove from oven; immediately place small square of milk chocolate on each. Remove from cookie sheet and spread the melted square of chocolate.
