6 cups flour
1 # butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1 tsp. baking powder
Vanilla and enough milk to form dough.

Roll out dough into a rectangle. You will probably have to pat it into a jelly roll pan to cover it and up the sides. Then spread with apricot jam you have made earlier. Take rest of dough and cut into strips and weave over the apricot layer. Whip the egg whites and brush over the bars or lattice. Spread chopped walnuts over the egg whites. Put foil around edges like you would for a pie crust. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes.

This freezes well. Grandma and I served this during the Christmas holidays. A big favorite. Do not use Mediterranean apricots--- only California.
