2 lbs. ground beef
1 c. milk
1/4 t. dried basil
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 clove (or more) garlic
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. black pepper
1/2 to 3/4 c. crushed crackers or 1 c. bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 t. liquid smoke
1/4 t. (or less) cayenne pepper
2 T. brown sugar

Directions:

Mix all ingredients and put into loaf pan (spray pan w/ non stick spray).
Spread over top about 1/4 cup (more or less) of barbecue sauce. We used a homemade bbq sauce w/ about 3 to 4 shakes of Louisiana hot sauce mixed in.
Bake for approximately 75 to 90 minutes at 350 degrees or until internal temp is 160 degrees. Take care not to overcook as it will dry out. Best to use a thermometer.
