1 lb. ground beef
1/4 lb. bacon
3/4 lb. pork sausage
1 1/2 c. chopped onions
3 cloves garlic
4 oz. canned mushrooms
1/2 c. snipped celery leaves or fine chopped stalks
6 oz. tomato paste
1 1/2 t. salt
3/4 t. MSG
1 1/2 T. brown sugar
1 3/4 t. oregano
3/8 t. thyme
1/8 t. ground cloves
2 qts. whole tomatoes, smashed
8 oz. tomato sauce
2 bay leaves
1 to 2 cups water

Chop bacon and brown w/ pork sausage; remove meat from fat and use to saute onions, garlic, mushrooms and celery.
Brown ground beef and drain off fat; add tomato paste, sautéed onions, mushrooms, celery and garlic.
Add all seasoning, whole tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
Simmer for 2 to 3 hours, uncover some of time to thicken.

Sometimes we make this with Italian sausage instead of pork and have used a couple of cans of
Rotel tomatoes in lieu of an equal amount of crushed tomatoes, both good substitutes. Also, we have had this on spaghetti squash and it is OK, good if watching your carbohydrates.
Calories for total recipe-2800 or 215 per cup.
