5 apples (mix Gala, Granny Smith), peeled and pared
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1/4 cup softened butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.
Place apples in 8x8 baking dish. Toss apples with syrup, lemon juice, and grated rind. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples. Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes or until top is golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Suggestion: Serve with vanilla ice cream.
