2 ½ cups flour
2 ½ tsp. baking powder
1 ½ cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
½ cup shortening
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla.

Directions:
Directions:
Put dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and to this add shortening and milk and beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla and beat 2 more minutes. Grease and flour two 8 or 9" cake pans or one 9 x 13 pan. Bake 25 minutes at 350º. (9 x13 may take a few minutes longer.)

When I was in elementary school, Grandmom Evans got her first electric mixer and with it got
a box of cake flour since the other flour we used was bought at the feed mill and very heavy. On the side of the Softasilk Cake Flour box was this recipe which has been used by all for the past 65 years. It’s a good one!
