6 cups Apples pare and core (Granny Smith taste best)
Mix:
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp Flour
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
Crumbs:
1 cup sugar
1 cup Flour
1 stick Butter
1 tbsp cinnamon
Need i Paper bag to bake pie in

Directions:

Make unbaked 9" pastry shell (I use a 10")
Pare and core apples to make 6 cups
Mix:
1/2 cup sugar, 2 tbsp. Flour, 1/2 cup Nutmeg
together and toss and mix with the apples than place them in the pie shell.

Cumbs:
Mix together 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, and 1 stick butter. and 1 tbsp cinnamon. If it looks to wet add more flour. If it looks to dry add more butter. working the mixture with your hands is best.

After placing the crumbs on top of the pie, place the pie into the paper bag and seal tightly (I use staples)

Bake in the paper bag at 425 degrees for about 1 hour. When done remove pie from bag and enjoy.
(I have cooked this in both gas and electric ovens without fire.)

My Grandmother Swartwood gave us this recipe.
It was use mostly at Christmas time. The men in my family Jimmy, Dan and Jon really love it.
