4 cups flour
2 cups white sugar
1 cup margarine
1/3 cup cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup sour milk or cream
1 cup hot water

Filling
2 egg whites beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. flour
4 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 cup Crisco
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Beat sugar margarine and eggs until creamy. Add sour milk and hot water. Combine dry ingredients, mix until well blended. Drop batter by 1/4 cup onto greased cookie sheet. With back of spoon, spread batter into 4 inch circles, leaving 2 inches between each cake. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely on wire rack. Combine filing ingredients. Spread on bottom side of cake a generous amount of filling. Top with another cake, pressing down to gently distribute the filling evenly.
