Creamy filling Cream together 1/4 cup soft butter (!/2 of a stick) 3/4 cup powdered sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp almond extracts a few drops milk to get good consistency tint with a little food coloring

Directions:Heat oven to 375º Work with 1/3 of the chilled dough at a time. Roll to 1/8 " thickness, cut into small 11/2 "rounds. dip top of each in granulated sugar, place sugar side up onto ungreased cookie sheet. Prick top with fork. Bake 7-9 minutes, until just beginning to lightly brown. Cool and spread with filling, putting two cookies together to form little sandwiches. Sugar sides out! |

Notes: This was my favorite wedding cookie. They melt in your mouth! I make them bigger for family, but tiny ones with different colored frosting are pretty for parties--wedding cookies. Reece: Ask Aunt Sheila if there is a story behind this one! (The recipe said "Sheila's Forgotten Wedding Cookies". I think mom made them and forgot to put them out for Sheila's wedding reception!)
