2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. melted shortening
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp grated nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Put eggs, sugar, shortening and milk into bowl, mix well. Sift together remaining ingredients. Add to first mixture, mix well. Roll out 1/4-inch thick on floured board. Cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in deep fat at 390º F until light brown turning only once. Makes 24.
