4 pounds chicken parts
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 onion, diced
1/4 tsp. garlic powder (optional)
2 tsp. salt, divided
2 1/4 cups flour, divided
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine chicken, celery, onion, garlic and 1 tsp. salt in large sauce pan. Cover with water. Cook until chicken falls from bones. Remove chicken from stock and cut into bite sized pieces. Arrange evenly in 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Strain broth to remove bones, etc. Combine 1/4 flour and 1/2 cup water, add to stock. Heat and stir until thick. Pour gravy over chicken. Bake in 400º oven until bubbly.
Mix 2 cups flour with baking powder and 1 tsp. salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk to form soft dough. Knead lightly. Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick. Cut biscuits with 2 inch cutter. Place on top of chicken and bake for 10 minutes or until well browned. Reduce heat to 350º and bake 10-15 minutes longer.
