1 1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 large egg
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. Cream shortening, add sugar. Add egg, beating well. Beat in vanilla. Alternately add flour mixture and milk to butter mixture. Spread batter in greased and floured cake pan. Bake in 350º for 35 to 40 minutes.
