5 T. evaporated milk
1 c. flour
1 c. quick-cooking oats
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Melt caramels in milk in top of double boiler. Cool slightly and set aside. Heat oven to 350º. In large bowl combine all dry ingredients except the choc. chips and nuts. Press half of crumb mixture in an ungreased 11x7 or 9" square pan. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with choc. chips and nuts. Spread carefully with caramel mixture. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes longer until golden brown. Chill 1 to 2 hours. Cut into bars. Sometimes I leave out the choc. chips and use more caramels and the nuts as the filling.
