3/4 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
3 cups quaker oats

Optional
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Oven 350 degrees

Beat shortening, sugars, eggs, water, vanilla together until creamy. Sift together flour, salt and soda and add to creamed mixture. Blend well.

Stir in oats. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.

Bake in preheated oven 12 to 15 minutes
