2 cups brown sugar, 2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp., salt, 1 stick margarine, 1/2 cup of black walnuts,1 egg, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp. of baking soda , 1 tsp. vanilla.

Preheat oven to 325.Mix up brown sugar, flour, salt, butter and walnuts. Should be crumbly. Set aside 1 cup of this mixture for the top of the cake. To the rest of the mixture add the egg, buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla. Mix together well. Place in pregreased sheet cake pan. Take saved cup of previous mixture and spread evenly over the top. Bake at 325 for 40 minutes or less. Cut into squares to serve.
