4 C. sliced okra
1 C. cornmeal
1 C. oil for frying

Salt okra to taste; roll in cornmeal. Heat the oil in a heavy skillet and fry half the okra until real brown, stirring occasionally. Drain on paper towels. Heat remainder of oil and fry the rest of okra

How to make okra hold the cornmeal when frying. Cut up the okra and put into a bowl of salted water. Leave okra in water for about 10 minutes; drain. Drain again if necessary. Stir okra with cornmeal, then place in hot grease. Do not cover skillet while okra is frying
