2 c. flour,
2/3 c. shortening,
1/4 c. 7-up,
1/2 tsp. salt

5 c. sliced apples,
juice of 1 lemons,
1 c. brown sugar,
1/2 tsp. cinnamon,
1/4 tsp. salt,
1 tbl flour,
1/2 tsp. nutmeg,
pecans,

Spread 4 tbl. softened butter evenly over sides and bottom of a 9 inch pie plate. Stand pecan nuts, round side down, about 1 inch apart around the edge of pie plate and make a design on the bottom of the plate with more nuts. Press into butter to hold in place. Sprinkle 2.3 c. brown sugar evenly over nuts and pat down gently but firmly. Cover sugar nut layer with plain pastry. Fill pastry with 4-5 cups thinly sliced apples that has been covered with the juice of one lemon. Pour lemon juice over apple slices. Sift together 1/3 c brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, flour and nutmeg, then mix into apple slices. Bake at 375 º for 45 min or until the apples are done
