6 cups flour
1 cup milk (scalded)
1 lb Shortening (2 cups)
1 tsp Sugar
1 small yeast
3 egg yolks
1/2 tsp salt
1 jar fruit preserves (we like apricot the best)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm milk and 1 tsp sugar. Add egg yolks to mixture and mix well. Mix shortening with flour and salt. Add milk to flour mixture and handle very little. Roll it out in sugar on a flat surface. Sprinkle sugar on. Cut flattened dough into approx 1 inch squares. Then cut each corner toward the center. Spoon small amount of fruit preserves into the center of the square. Fold one side of each corner down to the center and press all four together. It should look like a star. Bake at 325 for 15 minutes. Sprinkle powered sugar over cooled cookies.
