1 c. sweet butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1 t. vanilla extract
2 c. unsifted flour
2 egg whites, slightly beaten
1 c. finely chopped walnuts or pecans
currant or grape jelly

Directions:
Directions:
In medium bowl, with wooden spoon, beat butter, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla until smooth. Stir in flour just until combined. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375º. Using hands, roll dough into 1-inch balls. Dip in egg white, then roll in chopped nuts. Place, 1-inch apart, on ungreased cookie sheet. With thimble or thumb, press center of each cookie. Bake 8 minutes or just until a delicate golden brown. Remove to wire rack; cool. In center of each cookie, place a dot of jelly. Yield: 6 dozen.
