4 oz. Sweet Chocolate, Baker's Brand
1/2 c. boiling water
Sweet Chocolate Bar
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten


Coconut Pecan Frosting:
12 oz. evaporated milk
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
4 egg yolks
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
7 oz. coconut
1 1/2 c. pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cool. Cream butter and sugar. Add yolks, one at a time. Add vanilla and melted chocolate and mix until blended. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Beat until batter is smooth. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Bake at 350º F for 35 to 40 minutes. Use three 9" greased and floured layer pans.

Frosting: Combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter and vanilla in a saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat for 12 minutes or until thickened. Add coconut and pecans. Cool. Frost top and between layers.
