4 cups peeled and sliced all-purpose apples
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
CRUST
1 cup flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup (1 stick)butter
STREUSEL
1/2 cup sifted flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
4 tbsp (1/2 stick) butter, room temperatue

Make crust and strusel and set aside
Crust-preheat oven to 350º. Combine flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening using two knives or pastry blender, until mixture resembles small peas. Pat in 7 x 11 - inch coffecake pan. Set aside.
Streusel-Mix untill all ingredients are combined and crumbly.
Filling-combine apples, sugar and cinnamon. Add more sugar, as needed, if apples are tart. Mix well spread filling into prepared crust and top with streusel. Bake in preheated oven 45 to 50 minutes or until done.
