2 c. boiling water
1 Tbs. + 2 tsp baking soda
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 qt buttermilk
5 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
4 c. 100% Bran Buds
2 c. bran flakes
1 c. chopped pecans
8 oz. chopped dates

Directions:
Directions:
Pour water over Bran Buds. Let stand. Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add flour salt, and soda. Alternate with buttermilk. Add dates and nuts. Add bran flakes last. Bake in muffin cups 25 minutes at 350º. Batter will last in refrigerator 6 weeks.
