1 1/4 cups butter or margarine, softened
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3 cups quick or old fashioned oatmeal
1 cup dried cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; add to creamed butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in oatmeal and dried cherries. Drop by a rounded tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 11 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool one minute on cookeie sheet, then remove to cool completely.
