1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 cup crisco
1 egg
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add vanilla and egg. Add dry ingredients and chill in refrigerator for 1 hour. Shape dough into balls, and flatten lightly with sugar. Grease the bottom of a glass, put glass in sugar, then press lightly to flatten ball of dough. Can use colored sugar if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes.
