4 lbs. country-style spare ribs (we usually just get the baby ribs)
1 sliced onion
3 t butter or marg
1/4 c finely chopped onion
1 clove minced garlic
1 c catsup
1/2 c cider vinegar
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp perpared mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Cut ribs into 6 serving-size pieces and place in a large dutch oven. Add sliced onion and water to cover ribs; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes. Drain ribs and set aside.

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add chopped onion and garlic; saute til tender. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Remove sauce from heat and set aside.

Grill ribs over medium coals 20-30 minutes or to desired degree of doneness. Turn and baste frequently with sauce.
