1 lb. dates
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda

Directions:
Directions:
Grind dates and nuts. Add water and sugar, cook till thick and cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, beat thoroughly then add dry ingredients. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Srpead with date mixture, roll up and chill. Slice and bake at 350.
