Ingredients: 10 tomatillos, husked and halved (or green tomatoes) 2 fresh serrano chiles, stemmed and seeded (or hot chilies of your choice) 1 tsp. chopped garlic 1 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice ½ tsp. ground cumin 1 small yellow onion, thickly sliced ½ tsp. salt, plus more as needed

Directions: Preheat oven to broil and line a baking sheet with foil. Place the tomatillos (or green tomatoes) cut side down on the baking sheet and broil for 5 minutes, or until the skins are lightly blackened. Add the tomatillos and all the remaining ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth (or you may leave it chunky, and turn it into a salsa). Season with more salt, if needed. Poor into a sterile container or bottle You can eat it right away. If storing, give it a hot water bath for 5-10 minutes |
