1 1/4 cups water, boiling
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins (optional)

TOPPING

3/4 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup milk
1 cup coconut, shredded
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot water over oatmeal, let stand. Cream brown sugar, sugar and butter. Mix with oatmeal. Add eggs, beat well. Add flour, salt, soda and cinnamon. Stir in raisins. Bake at 350º for 35 minutes.

Topping; stir and boil butter, brown sugar and milk for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add coconut, vanilla and nuts. Mix and pour over hot cake. Place under broiler for a few minutes.
