¾ c vegetable oil
1 tbsp baking soda in ¼ c boiling water
2 ½ c white sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp salt
3 c cooking bran (I use 1 c bran and 2 c oatmeal)
1 c raisins (optional)
4 c flour
3 c buttermilk
2 ½ tsp baking powder

Directions:

Combine ingredients. Refrigerate and use when needed. Bake at 350-375ºF for 20 minutes.

Keeps for up to 3 weeks.
