3/4 Cup Shortening (part butter)
1 Cup Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
3 Tbsps. Milk
1 Tsp. Vanilla
2 Cups Flour (sifted)
1/4 Tsp. Baking Powder
3/4 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tsp. Salt
2 Cups Oatmeal (quick or rolled)
1-1/2 Cups Dates (cut up)
3/4 Cup (3/4 lb.) Chopped Nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening - add sugar gradually. Cream until fluffy - blend in eggs, milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Drop from teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.
