1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (not self -rising)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Blend in remaining ingredients. Fill cookie press with some of the dough and press the desired shapes on a ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 400º oven 6-9 minutes or until set but not brown.

Mom always made these at Christmastime. She would press the cookies and we would sprinkle on the colored sugars.
