Directions:
Shells:
Mix like pie dough by first cutting shortening into Dry Ingredients. Add 3 beaten egg whites and the activated yeast that was mixed in the warm milk. . Mix together thoroughly. Store in refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight.
Roll Dough in 1/2 cup flour mixed with 1/2 cup sugar. Taking a small amount of dough at a time. Make strips 7 inches long. Then roll on tapered forms (see note). Bake in over 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until light brown. Remove from forms and cool.

Note: My oven at 400 is too hot. I bake 10-12 minutes. Keep checking

Filling:
Put all ingredients in a large bowl and mix together with an electric mixer from medium to high for 10 Minutes. Then fill cookies.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Grandma, Mary Sparber Barbish, for forms used traditionally clothes pins wrapped in aluminum foil. Since then I have been able to locate aluminum forms online. Just search clothespin cookie forms. (They come from Pittsburgh of course!) The aluminum forms are great and the shells release beautifully.

This is a traditional Barbish family cookie
